Barkerville Gold Mines is engaged in the exploration and development of Cow Mountain, a zone with exciting resource estimates. The company is currently exploring options and seeking potential investors for a proposed open pit mine on Cow Mountain.
About This Project
The Cow Mountain project is a proposed open pit mine on Cow Mountain within the Rainbow, Sanders and Pinkerton zones, which are centered on a large knoll on Cow Mountain. These zones were discovered in the 1930s by the Cariboo Gold Quartz Mining Company, and were subject to some underground mining during the period of operation of the Gold Quartz mine.
Today, Cow Mountain has been subject to an extensive diamond drill program—both within and beneath the old mine. The company also undertook similar drilling in a newly discovered area just outside of the proposed pit area.
The company released updated resource estimates in March 2015 which are based upon an open pit scenario for the mining of gold mineralization beneath the surface of Cow Mountain in an area immediately surrounding the underground workings of the Cariboo Gold Quartz Mine.
Cow Mountain has been determined to contain 2.8 million ounces of indicated gold and 2 million ounces inferred.
