Fort Nelson North Processing Plant
Spectra Energy's Fort Nelson North processing plant will have the capacity to produce approximately 250 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscf/d) of raw gas.
About This Project
The Horn River Shale Basin - the largest resource play in Canada and potentially one of the largest shale gas deposits in North America - has generated significant producer interest and activity. As a result of signed firm contracts with customers for approximately 800 MMcf/d in incremental gathering and processing service, Spectra Energy is undergoing a large-scale expansion of its Fort Nelson area system. Through a series of 10 discrete staged gathering and processing projects, Spectra Energy is bringing on new processing capacity to meet the scale, scope and timing of its customers' needs.
The Fort Nelson North Processing Facility - the final phase of the expansion program - is currently being constructed and will enable the timely processing of incremental raw gas production from the eastern side of the Horn River Basin. The project involves the construction of a single train gas processing plant with inlet separation, gas sweetening, amine regeneration, acid gas incineration, sales gas dehydration and sales gas compression.
Once in operation, raw gas from various producers will be delivered to the plant through existing raw gas transmission pipelines for processing. Sales gas will then be delivered to pipelines serving key markets throughout North America.
Upon completion, together with Spectra Energy's existing Fort Nelson Gas Plant - the largest sour gas processing plant in North America - the company will have over 1.2 Bcf per day of raw gas processing capacity and associated gathering pipelines in the Fort Nelson area.
