About This Project
The Montney Natural Gas Play in northeast British Columbia is a world-class natural gas resource. In its upstream gas exploration and production business, Progress Energy Canada is the largest holder of natural gas rights in the Montney. Progress Energy is currently producing approximately 300 million cubic feet equivalent a day and currently has 14 rigs operating in the North Montney. Progress expects to have a total of 25 rigs operating by the end of 2013.
Both Pacific NorthWest LNG and Progress Energy are wholly owned by PETRONAS, the national oil and gas company of Malaysia.Over the next five years, Progress anticipates investing Pacific NorthWest LNG is the proposed LNG export facility which would export natural gas produced by Progress Energy. The natural gas would be transported from the North Montney region to the proposed export facility via the proposed Prince Rupert Gas Transmission Project, an approximately 750-kilometre pipeline to be built and operated by TransCanada Corportation.
