Murray River Coal Project

HD Mining International Ltd. was established in British Columbia to invest, develop and operate a 6 million tonne underground coking coal mine near Tumbler Ridge, BC.

About This Project

The 160 square km Murray River Property is located southwest of Tumbler Ridge, BC. Recent investment has enabled the exploration and technical assessment of the property to date, focused on the 37 square kilometre plot 1. Field drilling was initiated to support supplementary geological information in 2010, which affirmed estimated deposits.

The project, targeting deep metallurgical coal deposits between 400m to 800m, has estimated reserves of more than 3.18 billion tonnes. Initial mine site development will focus on the 37 square km plot 1, containing a proven deposit of 688 million tonnes. A Bulk Sample Permit, under the Mines Act, for work on plot 1 was issued from the BC Government on March 15, 2012. Surface work will initiate in late 2012.

The proposed mine design will include a slope shaft for the mining conveyor, two vertical shafts for transportation and ventilation, a centralized underground production control, a conveyor belt through the entire underground system, and rubber-tired vehicles for crew and equipment.

It is estimated that the Murray River Project will produce significant employment and economic spin-offs in British Columbia over a 50 year lifespan. The transfer of Chinese underground coal mining expertise and investment is well underway with $30 million already having been spent on project preparation. Another $100 million is already in HD Mining International's accounts and ready for further deployment. Additional investments from China, required to service the current and the future supply chain needs for the Murray River Project, are being planned through Huiyong Holdings (BC) - HD Mining International's controlling shareholder.
