Turnagain Nickel / Sulphide Project
The Turnagain Project by Hard Creek Nickel Corporation is a large sulphide nickel property in British Columbia. There is on average 75 million pounds of nickel per year over the 27 year life span of the project. Add to this that the deposit is open to the north and at depth. There is an ability to produce clean, high grade nickel concentrate as recent locked cycle tests showed approximately 18% nickel concentrate with less than 8% magnesium oxide.
About This Project
Hard Creek Nickel Corp. is developing the Turnagain Nickel deposit, a giant nickel sulphide deposit in north central British Columbia, Canada. A Preliminary Economic Assessment announced in October, 2011 models initial production of 52 million pounds of nickel and 2.8 million pounds of cobalt per year in a high quality, 18% nickel concentrate for sale to smelters. Production ramps up in year six to 97 million pounds of nickel plus 5.3 million pounds of cobalt per year for the next sixteen years. Financial metrics are competitive with every other large greenfields nickel project in the world.
Hard Creek estimates the resources for an open pit as follows: 206 million tonnes at 0.231% Ni and 0.014% Co measured; 356 million tonnes at 0.226% Ni and 0.013% Co indicated; and 201 million tonnes at 0.235% Ni and 0.013% Co inferred.
The mine is reliant on the completion of the Northwest Transmission Line along Highway 37. The transmission line project is in the final stages of construction and is expected to be operational by June, 2014. The Turnagain property is in a very stable political jurisdiction. The local First Nations, Provincial and Federal Governments are mining friendly. A revised preliminary assessment to model saleable concentrate was released in December 2011 by Hard Creek Nickel Corporation.
Hard Creek Nickel Corp. is traded on the TSX under the symbol HNC.
